Class 365 'Networker Express' EMU
These units were constructed in 1994 and 1995 for Network SouthEast. The Class 365s were the last trains built at BREL York, before the factory's closure. The Class 365 units can reach a top speed of 100mph, but used to be limited to 90mph, when they operated on third-rail lines. Two of the four carriages on the unit are equipped with four traction motors, these are the driving carriages.
Unfortunately, the Class 365s have been in a fair few incidents. One unit was in the well-known Potters Bar rail crash in 2002. The unit is now in store, with one carriage written off. Some Class 365s have also been involved with incidents involving tractors and level crossings.
The future of the units is uncertain, with the planned cascade to GWR having been cancelled.
